Chard Robinson's exciting student accommodation project - The Newton, Cambridge - has been crowned the top new residential development in the region at the UK Property Awards 2014.

The country’s premier developers, architects, interior designers and property agents gathered at the London Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel on Friday, October 24th for the ceremony, which saw The Newton awarded the highest score of 5-stars and named Best Residential Development in Cambridgeshire.

Sponsored by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and Gaggenau, the UK Property Awards attracted entries from hundreds of companies across the length and breadth of the UK and were attended by Lord Courtown, chairman of the architecture and interior design panel of judges.

Company directors Stephen Chard and Neil Robinson said: “Stephen and I are passionate about property and meticulous with details, so winning this award for our first residential development is testimony to the combined effort of all involved. We very much wanted to create a building that gave a nod to the heritage of the site and blended styles of architecture that were in keeping with the historic De Freville Estate, but which would also be technology-ready for future living and have a minimal impact on the environment.

"We hope that the investors and residents at The Newton are as delighted with the end product as we and the judges are."

Stuart Shield, President of the International Property Awards, said: “It’s amazing to see the innovation that continues to deliver ever more surprising solutions that not only look good but also introduce beautiful new homes with a very low energy requirement. The awards are also able to highlight the latest techniques in the marketing and presentation of Britain’s finest homes."

The highest scoring 5-star winners from each of the 47 different categories now go forward to represent the UK in the 2014-2015 International Property Awards. They will compete against other regional winners from Africa, Arabia, the Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe to find the ultimate world’s best in each category. The results of the eagerly anticipated ‘World’s Best’ Property Awards will be revealed at a second glittering awards presentation ceremony in Dubai on December 4th.
